Ettore Sottsass Exhibition
In the Global Business Headquarters Esprit commemorated Ettore
Sottsass with an Exhibition. This partnership with the designer and
founder of the Memphis style has been existing since 1982. His design
and architecture formed the Esprit stores and showrooms worldwide.
Ettore Sottsass was substantially involved in building up the brand.

Global Reintegration
Esprit Holdings Ltd. unified the global Esprit brand by purchasing
the US trademarks and the remaining interests in Esprit International,
bringing back the brand under the control of one single entity for the
first time since the 70´s.

The brand awareness worldwide grew especially in Germany with a record of 84%.

New Millennium
Esprit Holdings Ltd became a constituent stock of Morgan Stanley´s
MSCI Hong Kong Index. The new Millennium opened with Esprit asking:
'how much faster can we grow?' In the new millennium, new product lines
such as sportswear, clothes for newborns and toys were introduced.

The Japanese art publisher Robundo published "Esprit, the

Engagement
Susie and Doug Tompkins urged public to confront the growing AIDS
epidemic. In the same year the company expanded into Taiwan, the
Netherlands, Belgium and Denmark.
1986 | Cologne
First Esprit Store in Germany
Cologne was the location of the first opening of an Esprit Store in
Germany. The store was designed by Ettore Sottsass with typical
elements of the Memphis Style.

Esprit triple-bar 'E' Logo
In 1979 John Casado designed the famous Esprit stencil effect logo.
Despite worries that the triple-bar 'E' would not be legible to
customers, the new logo became one of the most recognized and memorable
in international fashions.

Esprit

the world. We are committed to developing a positive and respectable
working environment that encourages collaboration and cooperation
between employees. The Group promotes internal communications and we
welcome ideas and feedback from our staff.
During the financial year, a LIVE ESPRIT campaign was implemented with
the aim of promoting team spirit and creating a global culture for all
our employees located around the world. Through quarterly newsletters
and the Group’s global intranet, we aim to improve company-wide
communications and to connect our employees around the world to the
Esprit family.
We strive to be an attractive company for the talented and motivated.
The Group places great emphasis on staff training and development in
order to realize the potential of every one of our employees. Our
remuneration package is performance based and takes into account
business performance, market practice and competitive market
conditions. Share options and discretionary bonuses are granted to
staff that show outstanding performance. We have also adopted an annual
performance and salary review system to ensure staff members are
rewarded on a clear and fair basis.
Responsibilities to Business Partners
At
Esprit, we aim to develop and maintain long-term relationships with our
business partners based on openness, honesty and trust. We seek to
understand their business needs and aim to provide mutual support to
ensure that sustainable business partnerships are established.
We are also committed to conducting business in a responsible and
suitable manner. Social audits were carried out during the year to
ensure suppliers maintain and uphold these standards.
We have also become a member of the Business Social Compliance
Initiative (BSCI) established by the Foreign Trade Association (FTA)
this year and have communicated to vendors the significance of BSCI
certifications as the appropriate accreditation to signify their
compliance with human rights and minimum social standards.
Responsibilities to the Community
Through
grants, donations in kind and volunteering activities, Esprit and its
employees worldwide take pride in making contributions to the
community. The Group made HK million in charitable donations this year.
During the financial year, our employees responded enthusiastically to
a variety of relief initiatives organized by charitable organizations.
These included the participation of Hong Kong staff in “Walks for a
Million” organized by the Community Chest, ribbons selling in stores to
raise funds for the National Breast Cancer Foundation and financial
support to charitable organizations.
In response to the South Asian tsunami, Esprit launched a global fund
raising campaign during FY2004/2005 calling for employee donations to
help victims affected by the disaster. The Company also made matching
donations to support and promote active participation in the campaign.
Approximately HK million was jointly donated to local and international
relief agencies, including the Red Cross and Unicef, to help relieve
suffering and to reconstruct permanent housing for tsunami victims.
Quality First
Esprit is an international youthful lifestyle
brand offering smart, affordable luxury and bringing newness and style
to life. The Group offers 12 product lines encompassing women’s wear,
men’s wear, kid’s wear, edc youth as well as shoes and accessories
through over 640 directly managed retail stores and over 12,000
wholesale point-of-sales worldwide, occupying over 817,000 square
meters directly managed retail space in more than 40 countries.
Esprit licenses its logo to third party licensees that offer products
bearing the same Esprit quality and essence to consumers. Esprit also
operates the Red Earth cosmetic brand which includes cosmetics, skin
care and body care products.
Esprit is listed on the Stock Exchange of Hong Kong Limited in 1993 and
is a constituent stock in the Hang Seng Index, MSCI Hong Kong Index,
FTSE All-World Index for Hong Kong and S&P/HKEx LargeCap Index and
S&P Asia 50 Index.
The Board comprises nine Directors, including the Chairman of the
Board, four of them being Executive Directors, and the remaining five
Non-Executive Directors, of whom three are independent.
Quality first
A team of international designers translates
the Esprit attributes into regular collections in a self-confident,
natural, stylish and sensual way: twelve collections are produced for
six order dates per year and product line for Kids, Shoes and Esprit
Sports. The twelve collections of edc by esprit, Women Casual , Women
Collection, edc men, Men Casual, Men Collection and Accessories could
be ordered monthly. Four collections are produced per year for Esprit
Bodywear.
Although the company focuses on the product and price/performance
ratio, Esprit also invests continuously in quality and fit – high
standards that are also maintained in manufacture.
Esprit’s various product areas consist of individual divisions that are organised as independent corporate units.
